The Northern California Bearded Collie Fanciers are delighted to welcome you to the 40th Annual BCCA National Specialty, September 29 through October 5, 2018.
Fall in Sacramento is one of our favorite seasons. Temps are dropping into the 70s and 80s and the sun is just beginning to travel a bit lower in the sky. With no humidity, this makes a comfortable time for both humans and Beardies. Our herding venue and our show site in Sacramento are new to the BCCA National and promise to make it another memorable, fun filled gathering.
We are proud to have a very knowledgeable and respected slate of judges for all venues; they are traveling here from all parts of the globe. Herding at JR Ranch in Patterson, California will kick off the event on Saturday. Following the second trial on Sunday, we will move to the historical site of the former McClellan Air Force Base where our conformation show site is outdoors on grass ringed by mature trees. Obedience and Rally will be indoors in the main ballroom, and Agility will be just down the street outdoors on a grass field.
The Lions Gate Hotel is the former Officers' Club for the McClellan AFB and is located in a tree-lined neighborhood, perfect for dog walking. Rooms have been upgraded with all new amenities. The week promises to be full, but we have tried to leave plenty of down time to relax and enjoy tasting wine and drinks on the hotel patio, under the shade trees and by the pool. It is definitely California style!
There are three international airports in Northern California (San Francisco, Oakland and Sacramento). We recommend flying into Sacramento, which is minutes away by car. While the show site is lovely, the area outside the McClellan Park is not really walkable. You will want to explore the area and visit some of our local food and dining establishments that boast local ingredients on their menus.
Come to Sacramento and Let Your Dreams Take Flight. We'll save you a ride!
